5 Innovative New Jersey Hair Loss Treatment Options

1. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

PRP therapy is a nonsurgical procedure that is performed on site. To perform this procedure, blood must be drawn. Once the blood is obtained, the technicians use a centrifuge to separate the concentrated platelet rich plasma from the red blood cells. Following centrifugation, the platelet rich plasma contains vital growth factors and up to five times more platelets than is found in typical blood. This PRP can now be used to promote hair growth. It is believed that PRP stimulates hair growth by amplifying the body’s natural healing process. Performing a platelet rich plasma treatment involves injecting the patient’s own, centrifuged PRP solution into the scalp to assist with repairing damaged hair follicles and promote growth.

2. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a relatively new transplantation technique providing superior hair growth results to men and women throughout New Jersey. One of the benefits of Follicular Unit Extraction is that concerns related to linear scarring are eliminated. FUE allows physicians to collect numerous follicles during one session; thus, minimizing the number of sessions an individual needs to achieve the desired results. Additionally, fewer treatments means less down time and reduced cost. On many occasions, a patient only requires one treatment. During an FUE procedure, one follicular unit is removed at a time. Each follicular unit is carefully removed (harvested) and relocated to another part of the scalp (transplanted).

3. Strip Harvesting

During a single session, clinicians can harvest and then graft numerous hair follicles. Performing this procedure requires removing small strips of tissue containing hair follicles. Once the strip of donor tissue is removed, it is grafted into areas of the scalp where hair is missing. Today, small strips of hair can be used (2mm wide or less), which minimizes the appearance of linear scars. Furthermore, the advanced closure techniques used by the medical professionals at Contemporary Hair Transplant minimize the amount of tissue damage and scarring that occurs as the areas that were treated heal.

4. Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation is becoming one of the most popular nonsurgical hair loss treatments available. This is a low-risk procedure that allows for a quick recovery and provides lasting results. Scalp Micropigmentation involves the injection of pigment into the scalp’s dermal layer. This pigment is injected in such a way as to replicate the appearance of normal hair follicles. Micropigmentation can make an individual’s hair appear fuller by eliminating the visible contrast between the scalp and the hair. This procedure is also beneficial for individuals who are completely bald: Micropigmentation can provide an individual with the appearance of a shaved head. Attaining optimal results typically requires two or three sessions.

5. Capillus Laser Cap®

The FDA has approved the first laser-supported cap to treat hair loss. This innovative cap uses low-level energy to stimulate the hair follicles, promoting hair growth. The Capillus Laser Cap® can be used alone or with various other hair restoration treatments. Treatment options compatible with the Capillus Laser Cap® include medications, hair transplant surgery, hair restoration surgery and topical foams.
